Biography

     Natelle Angelina Gentile was born on February 17, 1993. By 1995 Natelle was already involved in gymnastics at the recreational level. By 2000 Natelle had made team and was competing as a level 5 athlete for Cal Elite Gymnastics. Natelle made Level 5 State Championships were she placed well in a very tough competition field. She went on to compete as a Level 6 athlete in the fall of 2001. Natelle went on to compete as a level 8 athlete during the 2003 season and qualified to her first Region 1 Championships which would be held in Sacramento, CA. She placed 4th on vault and 8th all-around at Region 1 Championships finishing off a successful season. In the spring of 2004 Natelle repeated the level 8 season. As a true seasoned competition Natelle placed 1st on vault, floor, and all-around at Level 8 California Championships and qualified to her 2nd Region 1 Championships. Natelle placed 1st on vault and 3rd in the all-around, raising her all-around score by almost a point from the pervious year.

In early 2005 Natelle switched to Wildfire Gymnastics in Tustin, CA. Here Natelle would be coached by Rhonda Schwandt, 1978 World Championship Team Member, Stephanie Calvert, Bill Callander, and Tom Wakeling. Natelle competed as a level 9 athlete in 2005 placing 1st all-around at California State Championships and 1st on beam and floor. Natelle went on to compete at Region 1 Championships where she once again placed 1st all-around and won the beam and floor competition. Natelle qualified to her first Western National Championships which were held in St. Louis, Missouri. Natelle did well in her first big national meet placing 2nd on vault and floor and taking 3rd place in the all-around.

     In 2006 Natelle made the move to level 10. She won many of her invitational competitions including Hawaiian Island Twisters Invite, UCSB Invite, and the Long Beach Open. Natelle did well at State Championships placing 2nd in the all-around and qualifying to Region One Championships. Despite some discrepancy with Natelle’s bar routine, she placed 5th in the all-around and qualified to her first Junior Olympic Championships. Natelle and her coaches traveled to Oklahoma City where Natelle placed in the top 15 on vault, beam, floor, and all-around.

Natelle started off the 2007 season by placing 1st All-Around at the 2007 Hall of Fame Invitational. She went on to place 1st all-around at the 2007 California State Championships, qualifying to Region 1 Championships in Utah. Natelle had a strong showing in Utah and placed 2nd in the all-around, qualifying for her second J.O National Championships. Natelle traveled to Ohio for the competition and had a strong showing at the meet winning the silver medal on beam and floor and taking the silver medal in the all-around competition. Natelle's top 4 placing in the all-around also qualified her to the Junior Olympic National Team! Natelle is now looking forward to testing to be an elite gymnast.

- Natelle is currently in the 9th grade at Tesoro High School.
