Kiana Winston was born on June 12, 1996 in Fort Worth, TX to Yolanda and Kevin Winston. She began gymnastics in the June of 2000 at the Southwest Recreational Center where she was coached by Julie Kramer Hamideh. She began competing as a Texas Amatuer Athletic Federation (TAAF) athlete in the spring of 2003 for the World of Gymnastics team. In the fall, Kiana competed as a USAG Level 4 athlete where she qualified to the Carol Hillenburg Achievement State Championships and placed 2nd on vault and 9th in the all around. In the spring of 2004, Kiana once again competed TAAF, but this time as a Level 5; and she placed 1st on floor and 15th in the all around at the TAAF State Championships.
In the fall of 2004, Kiana moved to Lone Star Gymnastics. She competed as a USAG Level 5 where she placed 20th all around at the Texas State Championships. In early 2005, she traveled to Las Vegas, NV where she competed in the Go For IT Classic winning bars, beam, and the all around. Shortly after Kiana moved up to Level 6 where she placed 4th all around at the Heart of TX Invitational and 6th all around at the Fiesta Invitational.
In the spring of 2006, Kiana began competing as a Level 7 optional athlete. She earned a bronze medal in the all around at the Heart of TX Invitational as well as gold medal on vault and bars at the Manhattan Classic. She placed 20th all around at the Level 7 North State Championships and also earned 9th place on floor. At the Level 7 State Championships she earned 6th place finishes on vault & bars as well as 4th place finishes on beam and the all around.

Kiana moved up to Level 8 in the spring of 2007 and started off her season by traveling to Cancun, Mexico for the Cancun Classic where she earned silver medals on vault, floor, and the all around. She went on to earn a bronze medal finish at the Heart of Texas Invitational as well as earning a gold medal on beam. At the Level 8 State Championships Kiana finished 10th on vault and 22nd in the all around. After her season in 2007, Kiana moved to Texas Dreams Gymnastics in Coppell, TX. Kiana was then coached by Marnie Brys Futch and Gina Logan.

In 2008 Kiana competed as a Level 9 athlete. She began her season at the Texas State Qualifier where she placed 1st on vault, 2nd on beam, and 2nd in the all around. She then traveled to Allentown, PA for the 2008 Parkettes Invitational where she won vault, bars, beam, and the all around. Kiana continued her all around winning streak by earning the gold medal at her own gymís Texas Prime Invitational as well as the Kurt Thomas Invitational. Kiana went on win the 2008 Level 9 Texas State Championship titles on beam, floor, and the all around. She qualified to Region III Championships which were held in Wichita, KS. Once there Kiana earned a silver medal on beam, a bronze medal on floor, and a gold medal in the all around. She earned a spot on the Region III Team that would travel to Missouri for the 2008 Western National Championships. Kiana was the runner-up in the al around at Western Nationals and also earned a silver medal on balance beam.

Coached under a husband and wife team of Chris and Kim Burdette, in 2009 Kiana competed Level 10 at the Texas Prime Meet earning first on vault & beam as well as second in the all around. She also earned both her compulsory international elite score and optional international elite score. She traveled to the Karolyi Ranch in July for the National Elite Qualifier she improved her all around score. She, then traveled to Des Moines, IA for the US Classic, a qualifier to the US National Championships. Kiana improved her all around score by over a point and won a gold medal on beam tying for 4th place in the all around. She easily secured a spot at the 2009 US National Championships and earned 23rd place in the All Around.

2010 Started off strong with Kiana earning first place at the 2010 Texas Prime Invitaitonal hosted by her home gym. Kiana easily qualified to 2010 US National Championships with a 6th place finish at the Metroplex Challenge, where she also earned a gold on beam. She traveled to Ohio for the 2010 Buckeye Qualifier where she earned 1st on vault and beam and earned a bronze in the all around. Unfortunately a knee injury shortly before the US Classic ended Kiana's 2010 season. She is now working towards coming back to the elite scene in 2011

Kiana began 2011 by traveling to Florida for her first elite qualifier of the season, this was Kianaís first competition in over a year! Kiana won floor, but missed the qualifying score needed to compete at the Junior International Elite level. She then competed at the 2011 American Classic in the elite qualifier portion earning gold medals on uneven bars, floor, and all around! Her scores qualified her to international elite and to the 2011 US Classic. She traveled with her team to Chicago, IL for the 2011 US Classic where she easily earned her qualifying score the 2011 US National Championships. At Nationals, in St. Paul, MN, Kiana earned 8th place overall, 7th on beam, and 9th on floor, qualifying to her first Junior National Team!
Kiana attends Elite Learning Academy which is located inside Everybody Fits. She enjoyed reading, making craft bracelets, and spending time with her family when she isnít at practice. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite food is shrimp. She also enjoys snow cones! Some of her hobbies include shopping and looking for stylish purses.
