Biography
Katelyn was born October 7, 1995 to Doug and Jill Haworth. Katelyn’s Parents enrolled her at Naydenov gymnastics at age 6.5 because she loved to climb. She was quickly picked up by a team coached by Erika Bacaks and Dimitri Taskov. It was evident She had talent and started level 5 by age 7. Her first year of gymnastics she won The Cascade elite winter meet and went on to win sectionals. Katelyn skipped level 6, and was doing level 7 by 2004, winning many awards including an Judges Choice Award at the Emerald Team Challenge on bars. In January of 2004 Katelyn traveled to San Diego, CA for the 2004 San Diego Classic where she finished 7th in the all around and 1st on floor. In October of 2004 Katelyn competed as a level 7 athlete at the 2005 Las Vegas Women’s National Competition where she earned silver medals on bars, beam, floor, and the all around.
In December of 2004 Katelyn moved up to level 8 and competed at the NAWGJ Fall Invitational where she finished 2nd all around as well as 2nd on bars and floor. She then traveled to Cancun, Mexico for the Cancun Classic where she earned 7th all around. She went on to earn 4th all around at the Seattle Sports Festival. In February the team traveled to Costa Mesa, CA for the 2005 Surf City Classic where she earned 5th all around. She then competed at the Hilton Invite earning 1st on bars and beam and 5th in the all around. Katelyn earned 13th place all around at the 2005 Washington State Championships and qualified to regionals. At the 2005 Region II Championships for level 8 Katelyn finished 7th in the all around with a 6th place finish on bars and 5th place finish on floor.
Katelyn moved up to level 9 in 2006 and competed at the 2006 Gymnastics in Paradise competition in Hawaii where she earned 4th place in the all around. In February Katelyn competed in the 2006 Hard Rock Invitational in Phoenix Arizona where she earned 17th place in the all around. In March of 2006 Katelyn traveled to Boise, ID for the 2006 Region II Championships as a level 9 and earned 9th place in the all around and qualified to the Western National Championships! Katelyn traveled to Colorado Springs, CO for nationals and earned 29th in the all around and 9th on bars.
In December of 2006 Katelyn competed at the Kay Canedy Holiday Fest Judges Critique where she placed 1st all around with a 35.625 in the level 9 Jr. A division. In January she traveled to Las Vegas, NV for the Lady Luck Invite where she placed 4th all around. Later that month she traveled to San Diego, CA for the San Diego Classic where she took first on bars and the all around in the 11-13 year old age division. In February the Naydenov team traveled to Coeur d’Alene, ID for the 2007 Great West Gym Fest where Katelyn earned first place finished on bars and beam and 3rd in the all around. At the 2007 Washington Level 9 State Championships Katelyn finished 1st on beam, 2nd on floor, and 3rd in the all-around, qualifying for a spot to the regional championships. At the 2007 Region II Championships Katelyn placed 11th in the all around.
After the 2007 season Katelyn and her family moved to Texas and she began training at Texas Dreams Gymnastics. Katelyn sat out the 2008 season with injury, and in January of 2009 Katelyn received her international elite compulsory testing scored. She went on to qualify to the international elite level at the 2009 Parkettes Elite Qualifier where she scored a 52.200 all around. Katelyn looks forward to competing as an international elite gymnast in the future.
