ABOUT MACKENZIE

Mackenzie Eryn Brannan was born on May 17, 1996. She started gymnastics at the age of 5 when her mom noticed her favorite part of her dance class was forward rolls and cartwheels. She jump started her gymnastics career by qualifying to the TOPs Diamond Level team in 2004. Mackenzie started competing as an optional gymnast in 2005 for Capital Gymnastics in Austin, Texas. She placed 3rd all-around at the 2005 Cancun Classic as a level 7 and went on to placed 3rd on bars and floor at the WOGA Classic. She also qualified to the 2005 Nationals TOPS Team. She moved up to level eight in 2006 competing at the prestigious NAWGJ National Judges Cup earning a gold medal in the all around. She qualified to 2006 Region III Championships and earned gold medals on bars, beam, and the all around. Mackenzie was then named to her 2nd National TOPs Team.

In 2007 Mackenzie competed as both a level 9 and HOPEs gymnast. She placed 13th all around at the 2007 Texas State Championships and earned a bronze medal on bars. In the summer Mackenzie qualified to her 3rd National TOPs Team. In the fall she was invited to the 2007 October Training Camp where she earned 11th in the all around. In 2008 Mackenzie moved up to level 10 where she earned 6th place at the Lady Luck Invite in Las Vegas, NV. She traveled to Dallas, TX for the MetropledxChallenge where she placed 1st all around in the hopes division.

2009 was a big year for Mackenzie as she broke in to the international elite scene. She went on to earn her international elite qualifying score at the 2009 Metroplex Challenge. Mackenzie traveled to San Diego, CA for the 2009 American Classic where she earned her all around score for the USA National Championships. She traveled to Dallas, TX for her very firsh USA National Championships and placed 20th all around in a tough field of competitors.

Mackenzie started off strong in 2010 by qualifying to her 2nd US National Championships at the 2010 San Dollar Invitational. She went on to take 9th place at the 2010 Metroplex Challenge and 7th all around at the 2010 Pikes Pike Cup. She traveled to Florida for the 2010 Elite Qualifier at Bieger Interantional Gymnastics where she earned first palce finishes on Bars, Floor, and 2nd in the All Around. Mackenzie went on to earn 1st place on vault, floor, and all around at the 2010 National Elite Qualifier held at the National Team Training Center in July. She headed to Chicago, IL for the 2010 US CoverGirl Classic where she earned 1st place in the first subdivision of juniors and earned 8th out of all the juniors. In August she traveled to Hartford, CT for the 2010 US National Championships where she earned 4th on bars, 8th on floor, and 18th all around.

Mackenzie is homeschooled and will start 9th grade in the fall of 2010. In her free time she likes to shop, play with her dogs, hang out with friends and family, draw, and read.
