Annie Kaitlyn DiLuzio was born on September 28, 1988 in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. Annie was adopted at the age of 10 days old and moved to California to be with her new family. Annie's talent in gymnastics was quickly evident and she started competing as a level 5 gymnast at the age of 8. Annie quickly shined by winning the Northern California State Championships for level 5. Annie quickly moved up the levels and started competing as a level 10 athlete in 2002.
While training at Byer’s Gymnastics in Sacramento Annie was coached by Eli & Debbie Rodriguez & Mas Watanabe. Annie placed 2nd all-around at the Northern California State Championships and won gold medals on vault, beam, and floor. She went on to place 6th at Region One Championships and qualified for a spot on the 2003 Region One Junior Olympic Team. Annie traveled to her first National Championships where she placed 1st on floor, 2nd on vault, and 11th in the all-around. In 2004 Annie made the jump into the elite world. She traveled to Colorado where she qualified to the international elite level and went on to compete in the 2004 American Classic. Although Annie missed making the US Championships, she would have a 2nd try by competing at the US Classic. Annie traveled to New York for the competition where she placed 1st on vault and 10th in the all-around qualified to 2004 US National Championships.
Annie traveled to Nashville, TN for Championships and placed 25th in the all-around competition. Although Annie missed making the National Team her amazing vaulting and tumbling ability got her an invitation to the US National Team Training Camp. Annie was assigned to compete in a tri-meet competition in conjunction with the 2005 American Cup. Annie competed on vault where she placed 1st and also competed exhibition on beam. She was also given an assignment to compete in the World Cup in Ghent, Belgium where she placed 2nd on vault. During the spring of 2005 Annie also announced her intent to accept a full athletic scholarship to the University of Utah!
Annie went on to compete in the 2005 US Classic in Kansas City, MO where she placed 11th in the all-around and 1st on vault qualifying to her 2nd US National Championships. She traveled to Indianapolis, IN in 2005 to compete in her 2nd Championship meet. Annie was in 6th place after the first day of competition with a high score of 9.516 on vault. Annie placed 8th in the all-around on the second day of competition for a combined place of 7th all-around which was high enough to qualify her for her very first USA National Team.
Annie took a break from elite competition in 2006 competing in a series of invitational at the “open” level. She moved to Utah in the fall of 2006 to start her school year where she would be coached by Greg Marsden, Megan Marsden, Jeff Graba, Mary Wright, and Kristen Riffanacht. Annie competed vault and floor consistently for the Ute team during the 2007 Season and also was able to contribute on beam. Annie helped the Ute team to a silver medal finish at the 2007 NCAA Championships and also earned a silver medal of her own during vault finals. During her sophomore season annie was a three-event starter contributing on vault, beam, and floor once again. She averaged a 9.800 on her six routines at the NCAA Championships and hit 38 out of her 38 routines! Annie qualified to Athletics Director's Honor Roll and had three wins during the 2008 season.
Annie was born and raise in Folsom, CA by her mother Nancy DiLuzio. She has one older brother, Anthony (8/12/79), who was 1999 Teenage World Champion Body Builder. In her free time she enjoys shopping, scrap booking, and hanging out with friends. Annie is also an excellent student and was named a Scholastic All American during the 2006-2007 school year. Annie is majoring in behavorial science and health at the University of Utah.
